Liverpool fans would be forgiven for thinking the summer transfer window has already opened.

Jeremie Frimpong has already completed his medical, with the official confirmation by Liverpool the only detail remaining.

At the same time talks were accelerating on that deal, the Anfield club was thrown into surprise links with Florian Wirtz.

The German international has since emerged as a credible transfer target for the Reds this summer, being confirmed by multiple reliable journalists.

And with the window still not open for another two weeks, DaveOCKOP can now exclusively reveal that Liverpool has serious interest in RB Leipzig striker Benjamin Sesko – interest that has been maintained since last year.

For Liverpool, the pursuit of Sesko will be tied to the future of Darwin Nunez.

The Uruguayan has one foot out of Anfield already, with interest reported from Saudi Arabia as well as Napoli.

Liverpool is likely to buy a forward after off -loading Nunez, with the money from his sale being used as part of a potential incoming deal.

DaveOCKOP can confirm Sesko would be interested in a switch to Anfield.

But Liverpool is not the only team who admires him with at least three Premier League clubs keeping tabs on the Slovenian as well as clubs around Europe, making it quite a competitive affair for his signature.

The attraction of Sesko is his age profile combined with his acceptable goalscoring record.

The big forward has scored four goals in the Champions League this season and 21 in all competitions (45 appearances), plus six assists.

His combination of physical presence and technical ability is a rare commodity in the current No.

9 market.

It’s believed that Leipzig would want €100 million for their top talent.

However, we can instead reveal that the Bundesliga side may be willing to accept lower than that due to Sesko’s positive relationship with the club.

Sesko is on good terms with the German club’s leadership, especially after last summer’s surprise contract renewal until 2029.

There is expected to be room for negotiation with Leipzig?

The Slovenian international has huge respect for his club and wants to keep that mutual relationship.

Although there have been discussions with Sesko about a move this summer, it’s important to point out that they were not necessarily conducted by Liverpool themselves yet.

The interest of the Merseyside club has been well publicized at this stage, but no formal approach has yet been made to Leipzig.

The German club have dropped out of the top four for the first time in five seasons this year, meaning that Sesko’s chances of leaving have increased due to no Champions League on offer in 2025/26.

The club’s poor season gives Liverpool a chance to close a deal if they head in that direction in the coming weeks.
