Bolton have rejected bids from Luton Town and Wycombe Wanderers for midfielder Aaron Morley, sources have told Football Insider.

The 25-year-old is seen as an important part of Steven Schumacher‘s squad and there are no plans to sanction his exit with hours left of the window.

Morley has featured in five of Bolton‘s first seven games across all competitions this season, having spent the first half of last season on loan at Wycombe where he made 23 appearances.

Both Luton and Wycombe identified him as an option to improve their side’s late in the window, but have been told they will have to consider other options.

He has two years remaining on his current contract at the Toughsheet Community Stadium and there are no plans to let him leave on deadline day.

Morley remains a key member of the Bolton squad despite questions over his role as a regular in the starting XI following Xavier Simons’ and Ethan Erhahon’s arrivals.

The midfielder’s ability to play in any role across the middle of the park makes him a valuable asset for Schumacher who is extremely reluctant to see him leave.

Luton lost Thelo Aasgaard to Rangers earlier this summer and had identified Morely as an option to replace him in a key position for Matt Bloomfield.

Wycombe, meanwhile, have already completed deals for Jamie Mullins and Caolan Boyd-Munce this summer, but remain keen to add further options.

All three of Bolton, Luton and Wycombe are expected to challenge for promotion this season, and Morley’s signing was also seen as a chance to weaken their rivals.

Bolton had been expected to be busy on deadline day with late loan moves being considered to bolster their push for promotion from League One.

However, Schumacher rubbished any suggestions of a late flurry, instead confirming that a couple of deals had already been agreed behind the scenes.

Marcus Forss has since completed a season-long loan move from Middlesbrough, with outgoing deals now expected to be the focus.
