Bournemouth, Brentford, Southampton and Leicester and French duo Nice and Rennes are chasing Lorient and Cameroon midfielder Arthur Avom, sources have told Football Insider.
Avom is a dynamic midfielder who covers every inch of grass, similar to ex-Foxes midfielder N’Golo Kante and veteran Everton enforcer Idrissa Gueye.
The 20-year-old has established himself as one of the best young prospects in French football after he played a key role in his side’s successful promotion to Ligue 1 last season.

Lorient are bracing themselves for interest in Avom before the transfer window closes as numerous suitors from across Europe weigh up moves to advance on their interest in the all-action midfielder.
The all-action midfielder began his senior career in Cameroon with Fauve Azur, and was spotted by Lorient scouts in 2023 before signing his first contract with them that year.
After initially starting out in the French side’s B team, Avom made the step up to play with Lorient’s senior side in Ligue 2 last season, and he impressed with two goals and six assists in 32 league appearances.

Avom has been likened to ex-Chelsea man Kante because of his tough yet unassuming nature and ability to cover every inch of the pitch much quicker than his opponents.

He won his first caps for Cameroon in two international friendlies in June, helping his country to a 3-0 win over Uganda with an assist and a 1-1 draw against Equatorial Guinea.
His impressive 2024/25 performances helped Lorient win the second-tier at a canter as they finished in first place, and his standout showings have not gone unnoticed with Premier League high-flyers like Bournemouth and Brentford now interested in his services and looking to open talks.
Both Bournemouth and Brentford are looking at potential moves for Avom to bolster their midfield options this summer, but first they look set to strike a deal with each other in the coming days.
Football Insider revealed on Tuesday (12 August) that Brentford were accelerating a move to sign the Cherries’ winger Dango Ouattara as a Bryan Mbeumo replacement after he joined Manchester United.

Ouattara is now closing in on a £42million move to the Bees, after he registered seven goals and four assists in 32 league games last term, and that switch is set to open the door for Yoane Wissa to join Newcastle United soon, as revealed by Football Insider on Friday (15 August).
It is clear that both the Bees and the Cherries have focused on developing talent from Africa in recent years, with the likes of Ouattara, Mbeumo and Wissa all impressing at their respective sides, and Avom could be the next young player from the continent to impress in the Premier League.
