Burton Albion are in talks with Wrexham over a deadline day signing for midfielder George Evans, sources have told Football Insider.
The Brewers are working hard behind the scenes to get a deal for the 30-year-old over the line before the transfer window closes.
Sources say that it would be a loan move, with both clubs continuing negotiations in the hope of reaching an agreement.
Evans has not featured in any of Wrexham’s first four games of the Championship season, instead being limited to appearances in the Carabao Cup, and is well down the pecking order under Phil Parkinson.
It has been a difficult start to the League One campaign for Burton, who currently sit in 18th place on just four points.
Gary Bowyer’s side won their opening game of the season against Mansfield, but have not tasted that winning feeling since, and have lost their last three matches in all competitions.
Last term, Burton finished one point clear of the relegation zone, and it looks as if it will be another challenging season for the third division outfit.

However, the addition of Evans would bring some much-needed experience to the Brewers’ midfield.
The Englishman has had spells at Millwall, Derby, Reading, and Walsall across the course of his career, as well as being involved in Wrexham’s last two promotion campaigns.
Meanwhile, Peterborough United have agreed a deadline-day deal to sign Wrexham centre-back Tom O’Connor, sources have told Football Insider.
There is a full agreement between the two clubs, which will allow the 26-year-old to complete a move to the League One outfit.
Sources say that O’Connor is set for his medical at Peterborough today before the transfer deadline passes.
The Irishman hasn’t played a single minute for Wrexham so far this season, and has been left out of the squad completely for half of the Welsh side’s Championship games.
