Derby County are in advanced talks to sign Southampton forward Ben Brereton Díaz, sources have told Football Insider.
John Eustace’s side are working on a deal to bring in the 26-year-old before the transfer window closes on Monday.
Sources say that negotiations between the two clubs are advancing quickly and that there is a very real possibility an agreement could be struck before the deadline.
Brereton Díaz is yet to play a single minute for Southampton in the Championship this season, and has been restricted to appearances in the Carabao Cup.

Back in the 2021/22 season, Brereton Díaz scored 22 Championship goals for Blackburn, and he backed it up in the following campaign by finding the net 14 times.
The Chile international’s impressive goalscoring exploits earned him a switch to Villarreal, but after a disappointing spell in Spain, he moved straight back to England.
Brereton Díaz has been at Southampton and Sheffield United over the last two seasons, but has struggled for consistency, and could now be set for a fresh start at Derby.

The Rams have picked up just two points from four Championship games so far, and will hope the versatile forward can rediscover his best form at Pride Park in order to boost them up the table.
Meanwhile, Stuttgart have submitted a £26million bid to sign Leicester City star Bilal El Khannouss, sources have told Football Insider.
El Khannouss is hopeful of leaving the King Power Stadium before Monday evening’s transfer deadline as he aims to return to playing at the top level.
The 21-year-old was left out of Marti Cifuentes’ squad for the 2-0 win against Birmingham City as he has had his head turned by growing interest.
Crystal Palace had been in talks to sign the attacking midfielder this summer, but the deal collapsed despite advanced talks as they opted to pursue Yeremy Pino.
