Emiliano Martinez will push to leave Aston Villa next summer if they continue to struggle, sources have told Football Insider.
Martinez was linked with Manchester United during the most recent transfer window, but the Red Devils eventually opted to sign Senne Lammens.
The Argentinian goalkeeper was left out of the Villa squad while the rumours of an exit were rife, but has now been reintroduced by Unai Emery.
However, sources say that talk of an exit would likely reignite at the end of the season, if the Midlands giants fail to reach the Champions League.

Aston Villa have had an extremely poor start to the new campaign, and sit in the Premier League relegation zone after five games.
As well as not yet picking up their first win of the season, Emery’s side have scored just one league goal so far this term.
Villa missed out on Champions League football on the final day of 2024/25, and can ill afford to spend another year away from the top table of European football.

Players like Martinez and Morgan Rogers want to be playing at the highest level, meaning that the Midlands giants risk losing some of their top stars if they cannot turn their season around.
Meanwhile, Aston Villa fully support Emery and have no plans to sack him, sources have told Football Insider.

The Spaniard has come in for some criticism following the Midlands side’s difficult start to the new campaign.
Villa could only manage a 1-1 draw against 10-man Sunderland on Sunday (21 September), with Emery publicly criticising his players after the game.
However, despite the poor form and the public fall-out, sources say that the board are not considering a change in management.
