Manchester United co-owners the Glazers could be open to a sale once significant progress is made on the club’s new stadium project, sources have told Football Insider.
Sir Jim Ratcliffe purchased a 27.7 per cent stake in Man United in February 2024 after agreeing a £1.25billion deal with the Glazers.
The Glazers’ drag-along rights in Man United came into effect on 13 August, allowing them to force Ratcliffe to sell his stake to a third party if a deal can be agreed.
Sources say the American family are unlikely to agree a sale in the near future, but they could be more open to a deal once progress is made on constructing the club’s new stadium.

Man United are continuing to source funding for their new stadium before getting the project underway.
Sources say significant progress on the development could lead to the Glazers assessing their takeover options again, with a new facility likely to increase the club’s value among potential investors.
The Glazers, who bought a 98 per cent stake at Old Trafford in 2005, have since seen their shareholding diluted to 48.9 per cent.
Meanwhile, Ratcliffe has increased his stake in Man United to 28.9 per cent after injecting a further £238million since investing in the club.
The Manchester giants posted a club-record revenue of £661.8m in their latest published accounts for 2023-24 despite recording a net loss of £113.2m.
