Elliott has been desperate to play more regular football, having been limited to a cameo role under Arne Slot.

Although the 22-year-old would prefer to stay at Liverpool in theory, he is accepting that he may have to leave in order to get more game time.

Aston Villa represent a good opportunity for him to continue playing in the Premier League at a high level, and Elliott is understood to be attracted to the idea of working with Unai Emery.

The imminent arrival of Alexander Isak at Liverpool could yet pave the way for a transfer before the 7pm deadline.

Elliott’s potential departure from Liverpool is understood to be linked to the arrival of Isak.

The England U21 international is understood to fear his playing time may be even more limited following the signing of another big-name forward.

However, there may be a slight wrinkle in a possible move to Villa in that Emery’s side are understood to be unable to sanction a permanent transfer.

Instead, RTK have been told that a loan deal, perhaps with an option to buy, is a more likely outcome.

Speaking exclusively to RTK, transfer expert Graeme Bailey shares the latest on Elliott’s proposed move to Aston Villa.

“Aston Villa are trying for Harvey Elliott,” Bailey says.

“The problem is they can’t do permanent deal because of PSR regulations, but the player is keen and a loan with an obligation to buy could be an option.”

“I’m told Elliott likes the idea of joining Aston Villa, they are a good club with a very good manager,” adds the reporter.

“Elliott, as we have previously said, does not want to leave in theory, but he knows Alexander Isak coming in will impact on him and he needs and wants more regular football.”

As well as the possible exit of Elliott, fellow Liverpool fringe attacker Federico Chiesa is attracting interest on deadline day.

Chiesa has grown in importance to Arne Slot over recent weeks, featuring in all three of Liverpool’s Premier League matches so far.

However, the 27-year-old is not certain to stay at Anfield in the final hours of the window.

With Isak’s signing having a big impact on the pecking order, it remains to be seen whether any of the Italian sides interested in Chiesa make a concrete play to sign him.

What is understood to be certain, however, is that Liverpool will not allow both Chiesa and Elliott to leave on Monday.
