There is a growing feeling that Alexander Isak will be a Liverpool player by the end of the summer transfer window.
What began as whispered speculation has now evolved into the summer’s headline saga, with Isak’s conspicuous absence from key Newcastle activities serving as the clearest indication yet that his Tyneside chapter is drawing to a close.
The story truly gained momentum when Isak failed to join Newcastle’s pre-season tour of Asia, with the club citing a minor thigh injury.
His absence became even more significant when it emerged that the striker had chosen to remain behind to “assess his options” rather than travel with his teammates to Singapore and South Korea.
If that wasn’t a big indication that there was more to the official Newcastle explanation, reports from Spain added yet more fuel to the fire.
Indeed, it emerged that Isak has been training at Real Sociedad’s facilities in Spain rather than at Newcastle’s Brenton ground.
Real Sociedad has a vested interest in any potential Isak transfer, holding a 10% sell-on clause for any fee above €70 million, plus an additional 2% through FIFA’s Solidarity Programme.
There is no smoke without fire, and it’s starting to look like Isak is Anfield-bound.
On Wednesday, DaveOCKOP.com exclusively revealed the fee Liverpool are expected to pay for the Swedish striker.
It can be further revealed that the fee could go up to £120 million up front, with up to £20 million in add-ons.
It would be difficult for the Magpies to turn that kind of money down for an unhappy player.
How much Liverpool are willing to pay up front for Alexander Isak
DaveOCKOP.com can exclusively reveal that Liverpool are willing to pay up to £60M up front to Newcastle.
This could be immediately spent by the Magpies on reinforcements.
A further £60M would follow before any add-on bonuses are achieved.
The situation has no doubt created tension within Newcastle’s ranks, with manager Eddie Howe admitting that the final decision on Isak’s future may be “out of his full control.”
This acknowledgement represents a significant shift from the club’s earlier insistence that the striker was not for sale, suggesting that internal discussions about a potential sale are now taking place at the highest levels.
Liverpool has already secured a personal agreement with Alexander Isak on a contract that would keep him at Anfield until 2031, as reported by Sky Germany.
The impending departure of Luis Diaz to Bayern Munich for €75million has strengthened Liverpool’s financial hand in the market.
With the Reds set to bolster funds through possible sales of the likes of Darwin Nunez, Harvey Elliott, and Federico Chiesa, Liverpool is now in a strong position to make the transfer a reality.
