Leeds United are looking to bring in a winger and an attacking midfielder in the January transfer window, sources have told Football Insider.

Daniel Farke’s side have had a relatively successful start to the season, and sit 12th in the Premier League after five games.

Over the summer, Leeds secured the signings of Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Sean Longstaff, among others, ahead of their first season back in the top flight.

The Whites’ next two priority positions will be key to their chances of Premier League survival though.

Sources say that the Yorkshire-based side will look to make further additions when the window reopens, with a winger and an attacking midfielder two positions at the top of their shortlist.

Over the past few years, newly promoted sides have had real difficulty staying up in the Premier League, often being cut adrift at the bottom of the table.

Last season, Leicester City, Ipswich Town, and Southampton were all relegated, while Luton Town, Burnley, and Sheffield United suffered the drop the campaign before.

However, with the likes of West Ham United and Wolves struggling at the start of this term, Leeds have a chance to become the first team in three years to avoid an immediate return to the Championship.

In order to put in a real challenge for survival, Farke’s side will have to strengthen again in January and hope that they can make the necessary additions to ensure their safety.

Meanwhile, in addition to other targets, Chelsea have joined Leeds in the race for talented Manchester City defender Nico O’Reilly, sources have told Football Insider.

The West London side are monitoring the progress of O’Reilly at City, and could accelerate a move for the full-back when the window reopens.

Enzo Maresca is lacking resolute defensive options, with Levi Colwill facing a spell on the sidelines.

However, sources told Football Insider on 19 September that Man City want to keep O’Reilly despite interest from Leeds.
