Liverpool have reached a full agreement to sign Dutch right-back Jeremie Frimpong from Bayer Leverkusen, marking a major move as the club prepares for life after Trent Alexander-Arnold.

The 24-year-old, widely regarded as one of Europe’s most exciting full-backs, is set to fill the void left by Alexander-Arnold.

DAVEOCKOP can exclusively reveal that Liverpool have reached a full agreement with Bayer Leverkusen for the transfer of Jeremie Frimpong.

The Reds initially agreed personal terms with Frimpong, who has made clear his desire to move to Anfield this summer.

Liverpool then informed Bayer Leverkusen of their intention to activate the release clause, making club-to-club negotiations not a factor.

The club and Frimpong’s representatives have been engaged in talks all week to come to an agreement.

These talks accelerated after we exclusively reported that his representatives travelled to the UK on Monday.

The release clause fee is considered a bargain for a player of his caliber, and it can be paid in four installments making it a no brainer for the Anfield club.

Celtic, Frimpong’s former club, will benefit from a significant sell-on clause, receiving around £5.5 million from the deal.

Frimpong extended his contract with Leverkusen until 2028 last year, but after expressing his intention to leave, the German club are resigned to his departure.

Frimpong and Leverkusen travel to Mainz for the final game of the Bundesliga season on Saturday, with the transfer set to be made official shortly thereafter.

Liverpool will go on pre-season in Japan at the end of July 2025, and Arne Slot will now have at least one new signing to bed in before the season starts.
