It is starting to look like Liverpool’s best summer transfer window in recent memory, and it’s not even the end of July yet.

Even the staunchest Reds fans would not have predicted the club acting so decisively in the transfer window.

The likes of Jeremie Frimpong, Florian Wirtz, and Milos Kerkez are all through the door nice and early and will enjoy a full preseason with their new teammates.

But Liverpool’s transfer business is not ending there.

The 24-year-old had another strong season last term, captaining Palace to their historic first FA Cup victory in May 2025, sealing the trophy with a memorable 1–0 triumph over Manchester City at Wembley.

For Liverpool, acquiring Guehi would not only help fill the void left by Jarell Quansah’s departure but also elevate the overall quality of the squad.

He has an excellent body of work in the Premier League.

The 24-year-old has agreed his wages and contract length, but now the Reds have to strike an agreement with Crystal Palace.

Guehi was one of the first names on the team sheet during England’s run to the Euro 2024 final last summer, and he is determined to secure his place in the squad for the 2026 World Cup in the United States.

In the early stages of discussions regarding a potential move to Liverpool, Guehi’s representatives were reminded that patience would be necessary for any transfer to progress.

A further advantage for Liverpool signing Guehi is his homegrown status, which assists in meeting the Premier League’s squad registration requirements.

However, Palace’s negotiating position is complicated by Chelsea’s 20% sell-on clause, inserted in his £18 million move from Stamford Bridge to Selhurst Park in 2021.

The London club are on the brink of securing Guehi’s replacement in Ousmanne Diomande.
