Liverpool are doing extensive work on several centre-forward targets ahead of strengthening the number nine position this summer, Rousing The Kop understands.
The Reds are set to announce the record signing of Florian Wirtz this weekend, with the German arriving as part of a new-look forward line next season.
After securing Wirtz, Liverpool will turn their attention to adding a top quality striker to their ranks.
As RTK reported earlier this month, Alexander Isak remains Liverpool’s dream target, and the Reds continue to be hopeful of luring the 25-year-old away from Newcastle.
Isak is currently in discussions over a new contract with the Magpies, and the outcome is understood to be crucial as to whether or not he is available this summer.
Should Liverpool receive encouragement that a deal can be done, they are likely to make their move.
In the meantime, RTK understands several other candidates are being sounded out over a transfer to Anfield, including Napoli striker Victor Osimhen.

Although the signing of Wirtz will use a significant portion of their transfer budget, Liverpool are willing to make another big splash this summer.
The funds are understood to be available for a world-class striker to join Arne Slot’s squad, with Isak seen as the ideal fit.

However, while the Swede is top of Liverpool’s shortlist, there is also an acceptance that a deal might be difficult to do.
As a result, the Reds may have to move onto other targets.
Hugo Ekitike has been heavily linked as a potential Isak alternative, but RTK understands Liverpool are unlikely to meet Eintracht Frankfurt’s asking price of €100m for Ekitike.

In contrast, Osimhen is available as he seeks to leave Napoli and sources have confirmed to RTK that conversations have taken place between the Nigerian’s agents and Liverpool.
The Saudi Pro League are desperate to secure Osimhen for next season, but the 26-year-old is keeping his options open ahead of a move.
Liverpool are understood to be fully aware of Osimhen’s ongoing situation.
While Isak is the dream and Osimhen is another option, they are not the only two strikers who could end up at Liverpool this summer.
The Reds are understood to be informed over Viktor Gyokeres’ intentions in the market and have not ruled out a move for Isak’s international teammate.
Like Osimhen, Gyokeres is available this summer and will be allowed to leave Sporting for the right price.
Meanwhile, Liverpool continue to scour Europe for more potential candidates as they prepare to sell Darwin Nunez.
