Liverpool are beginning to grow concerned at the lack of progress made over a new contract for Ibrahima Konate, Rousing The Kop understands.
Konate will enter the final year of his Liverpool deal this summer, with current terms set to expire in June 2026.
The French defender has been a key cog in Arne Slot’s Premier League title-winning team, starting 28 of 35 matches so far.
However, uncertainty has begun to cloud the future of Konate and RTK understands that the Liverpool hierarchy are growing worried things may have been left too late to keep the 25-year-old at Anfield.
Conversations have taken place over an extension for Konate, but it’s understood that an agreement is not currently close.
As a result, RTK can reveal that several of Europe’s biggest sides are continuing to keep an eye on Konate’s situation ahead of the summer transfer market.

Although as things stand this summer is the last chance for Liverpool to make some money back on Konate, RTK have been informed that the Reds remain determined not to sell him.
Despite the growing concern over a lack of progress in contract talks, Liverpool still hope that a resolution will eventually be found.

The impasse is understood to stem from Konate’s current wage demands, which Liverpool view as being excessive.
In the meantime, RTK understands that PSG, Real Madrid and Bayern Munich are all closely monitoring Konate’s situation ahead of a potential free transfer in 2026.

Furthermore, Premier League rivals Chelsea and Manchester City are also tentatively keeping an eye on proceedings.
There have been suggestions that Liverpool’s interest in Bournemouth defender Dean Huijsen this summer could be as a result of Konate leaving the club.
However, sources have indicated that Huijsen would ideally be signed alongside Konate instead of being a replacement for him.
Konate is not the only player hoping for a new deal from Liverpool this summer.
RTK understands the Reds are due to enter into talks with Luis Diaz over an extension, too.
Diaz’s current deal expires in 2027, but the Colombian has long since been interested in extending his stay at Anfield.
Liverpool have maintained their stance that Diaz’s performances have warranted a new deal and talks are set to take place at the end of the current campaign.
Unless the 28-year-old comes to the table with unexpectedly big demands, it’s likely that he’ll sign a new contract during the summer break.
