Much has been made of Liverpool’s spending this transfer window, with critics suggesting the club has deviated from its traditional prudent approach and the club’s traditions regarding the lavish spending.

The Reds have committed over £250 million to new signings, including record-breaking deals for Florian Wirtz and substantial fees for Hugo Ekitike, Milos Kerkez, and Jeremie Frimpong

However, the narrative around excessive spending overlooks the club’s impressive ability to generate funds through player sales.

Liverpool has recouped approximately £182 million through departures, including Luis Díaz’s £65.5 million move to Bayern Munich and Darwin Núñez’s £46 million transfer to Al-Hilal.

Additional sales of Jarell Quansah (£35 million to Bayer Leverkusen), Tyler Morton (£15 million to Lyon), and Caoimhín Kelleher (£12.5 million to Brentford) have further offset the expenditure.

This has reduced Liverpool’s net spend to around £74 million – actually the lowest among the ‘Big Six’ Premier League clubs.

But it the spending can potentially not stop with Alexander Isak.

Indeed, DaveOCKOP can reveal that Liverpool FC are considering spending £60-70 million on a new winger before the September 1st deadline.

It would be separate from any Alexander Isak deal, with the club’s hierarchy aware that more options on the flanks will be needed to compete on four front this season.

Arne Slot has hinted as much himself, saying to Sky Sports earlier this week:

“I see Hugo mainly as a No.9, that could also play from the left or together with another no.9.”

“We need to have one more attacker at least.”

It is a concrete consideration for the club, with the likes of Nunez and Diaz still needing to be replaced.

Meanwhile, Ben Doak looks set to join Bournemouth in a £25m deal, further reducing options available to Arne Slot next term.

The Reds were linked with PSG’s Bradley Barcola, but his exorbitant fee and Rio Ngumoha’s emergence has cooled interest for now.
