With that in mind, Crystal Palace and England defender Marc Guehi underwent a medical with Liverpool on 1 September.
However, Liverpool’s move for Guehi could fall through after the Eagles’ move for Brighton’s Igor Julio collapsed.
Subsequently, if Gomez can remain injury-free, he appears set to manage more than the 17 appearances he made across all competitions last term, this time around.
The fact that the 15-cap England international has already featured in Premier League wins over Bournemouth and Arsenal shows that he still has a part to play in the North West, especially if Liverpool don’t manage to sign Guehi.
Meanwhile, football commentator Ian Darke exclusively told Liverpool News 247 what he thinks the future has in store for Reds starlet Rio Ngumoha.
