The Alexander Isak and Liverpool situation has heated up this week after the Swede did not accompany the Newcastle squad on their Asia tour.

Isak is currently training at Real Sociedad’s state-of-the-art Zubieta facilities as a deal between Liverpool and Newcastle continues to be ironed out.

Real Sociedad also stands to benefit financially from any eventual transfer, holding a 10% sell-on clause for any fee above €70 million, meaning they could receive up to £15 million if a £150 million valuation is met.

Newcastle rejected Liverpool’s opening proposal on Thursday morning, believed to be in the region of £120m excluding add-ons.

Now DaveOCKOP.com can reveal that the Premier League champions are undeterred and are actively working on enhanced terms that could smash the British transfer record for the second time this summer.

There has been growing frustration on Merseyside with Newcastle’s inability to secure a replacement for Isak by now.

The Reds are now not waiting around for Newcastle United to secure Alexander Isak’s replacement, as was previously the case, and are now prepared to act ruthlessly to secure the signing.

DaveOCKOP.com exclusively revealed on Thursday night that Liverpool is willing to pay up to £60 million upfront to Newcastle, after which a further £60 million would follow in structured payments before any performance-based add-ons are achieved.

However, that stance has already shifted after the opening bid was rejected.

It is understood that Liverpool’s opening bid was in the region of £120m plus add-ons.

DaveOCKOP can now exclusively reveal that the Reds will offer £80 million upfront, with a second bid expected to reach Newcastle today.

The second installment will be £50 million next year, plus £10 million for a total of £140 million.

Liverpool wants to reach an agreement on £140 million as soon as possible.

The Magpies will tell Isak to report back to training before their Espanyol friendly (Friday, August 8) and Atletico Madrid friendly (August 9).

There have also been reports that the Geordie side could fine Isak for his behaviour over the last week if they determine that he had gone “AWOL”.

With the 25-year-old’s situation becoming increasingly untenable, Newcastle has accelerated its search for alternatives.

The club has made inquiries for Fulham’s Rodrigo Muniz, with it looking like Benjamin Sesko will be Old Trafford-bound.

What is clear now is that Liverpool will not wait for Newcastle to line up a replacement as previously was the case: the Reds are going all in to secure the Swede as soon as possible.

Tension is no doubt mounting behind the scenes at Newcastle as manager Eddie Howe has acknowledged that making the final call on Alexander Isak’s future is no longer solely in his hands

Meanwhile, Liverpool has already moved swiftly to secure Isak’s commitment, reaching a personal agreement with the player on a deal that would see him sign on until 2031.

According to Sky Germany, Isak has accepted the contract terms laid out by the Reds.
