Manchester United are facing sponsorship issues as a result of their disappointing on-field performances, sources have told Football Insider.

Under the terms of their kit manufacturer deal with Adidas, Man United have been deducted £10million from their £90million-a-year agreement after failing to qualify for the Champions League.

Meanwhile, Marriott International – the world’s largest hotel company – decided not to extend its sponsorship deal with the club after it expired at the end of the 2024-25 campaign.

Man United are also currently without a training kit partner after their deal with Tezos came to an end this summer.

It is understood the deal with the blockchain platform was worth at least £20million a year, leaving another significant hole in their accounts for this season.

In their latest published accounts for 2023-24, Man United posted a club-record revenue of £661.8million, while their commercial revenue remained static at £302.9million.

In terms of transfer activity, Man United have agreed to sell Alejandro Garnacho to Chelsea ahead of the window closing on 1 September.

However, the deal is understood to be worth less than £40million, which is significantly lower than the Manchester giants’ initial £50million asking price.
