Millwall have yet to offer star striker Mihailo Ivanovic a new deal despite pricing him out of a potential move away in the summer transfer window, sources have told Football Insider.

Ivanovic was a target for Leicester City, alongside several clubs at home and abroad, during the summer transfer window, but Millwall‘s prohibitive price tag proved enough to ward off interest from his host of suitors.

Millwall rejected bids from Italian side Parma, while several Premier League and Championship sides also made enquiries for Ivanovic, but the club’s valuation of £20million scared off the interested parties.

Alex Neil‘s side also missed out on the signing of a striker on deadline day despite bidding for Jusuf Erabi, who could have been a potential replacement for Ivanovic.

The Serbian’s interested suitors are expected to rekindle their pursuit when the transfer window reopens in January, and the Lions could face a new fight to keep hold of their prize asset.

Despite the growing interest in the 20-year-old and the huge price tag on his head, the Championship club have yet to hold talks with the player over a new deal to reflect his worth in the transfer market.

He has established himself as one of the best young strikers outside the Premier League after catching the eye in his debut season at the Den last term.

The 20-year-old joined from Vojvodina last summer, and he was instrumental in the club’s play-off push as he was the only Millwall player to register double figures for goal contributions, netting 13 times.

The Lions have several players’ contracts to address ahead of next summer.

Wes Harding, Dan McNamara, Casper de Norre, Aidomo Emakhu, and Femi Azeez have all entered the final 12 months of their current deals, many of whom are important players to the club.

With six points from their first four matches, Neil’s side are 12th in the Championship table and will be hoping to rise towards the play-off spots.
