Oxford United have agreed a deal to sign Rangers star Ben Davies, sources have told Football Insider.
The Championship club have beaten second-tier rivals QPR and Birmingham City to the capture of the former Liverpool defender.
Sources have said that Davies is set to undergo an Oxford medical and complete a permanent transfer after accepting the club’s contract offer.
Davies is currently in the final 12 months of his Rangers contract and the Ibrox outfit have been keen to sell him on a permanent deal following his loan spell at Birmingham last season.
The 30-year-old started 40 games across all competitions last term during Birmingham’s promotion to the second-tier.
Football Insider previously revealed on 19 August that Championship clubs were in a race to sign Davies, but Oxford United have acted quickly to secure a deal.
Ben Davies is set to leave Rangers.
The former Liverpool defender made the move to Scotland in 2022 for £3million but has struggled to impress and is deemed surplus to requirements at Rangers.

Football Insider revealed that Birmingham City were close to completing a move for Davies, but talks stalled earlier this month, and he is now set to join Gary Rowett’s side.
Davies was a key figure under Chris Davies at Birmingham, helping the club secure promotion to the Championship with 111 points, but his form has not put him back into Martin’s plans at Rangers.
Oxford, meanwhile, have yet to spend significantly this summer and started the season with two losses in their opening fixtures but Rowett will hope Davies’ experience can bring stability to the backline.

While Davies is surplus to requirements at Ibrox, Rangers remain keen to add to their squad before the transfer window closes.
Transfer correspondent Pete O’Rourke revealed to Football Insider that Rangers target Andy Irving has opened the door to a move away from West Ham.
The Scotsman is eager for more regular football after being pushed down the pecking order last season, making just one league start.
Football Insider reported that Celtic were expected to step up their pursuit of Irving back in June, but Rangers remain in the race.
