Premier League clubs will look to put more pressure on The Professional Footballers’ Association (PFA) following the saga surrounding Alexander Isak’s move to Liverpool, sources have told Football Insider.
Isak joined Liverpool in a £125million deal on deadline day (1 September) following weeks of intense speculation surrounding his future.
The Sweden international refused to play for Newcastle United after initially seeing his move to Anfield blocked.
Sources say Premier League sides will now look for the PFA – the trade union for professional footballers in England – to become more actively involved in matters of this nature and insist on players fulfilling their contracts moving forward.
