Peterborough United are in talks to sign Chelsea striker Jimmy-Jay Morgan on loan, sources have told Football Insider.
The 19-year-old could be allowed to leave Stamford Bridge on loan before the 7pm transfer deadline as he continues to gain first-team experience.
Morgan spent the second half of last season on loan at League Two outfit Gillingham where he scored two goals in 16 appearances after joining in January.
The Blues are keen for him to continue his development in the EFL by taking a step up to League One as he is highly unlikely to feature under Enzo Maresca.
The striker, who can also play as an attacking midfielder or on the wing, has two years left on his contract at Stamford Bridge after penning an extension last summer.

Peterborough have had a disastrous start to the season, with just one point gained and two goals scored after six games in League One.
Morgan has been targeted to add to their fire power up front, with the opportunity to land him on a season-long loan emerging in the window’s closing stages.

Having lost both Kwame Poku and Ricky-Jade Jones on free transfers this summer, Darren Ferguson remains determined to add to his attacking options.
Both key players’ absences have been felt heavily so far this season, but Morgan is seen as a bright talent who can provide something different to the front line.

Morgan is not the only Chelsea forward who could be making a move to the EFL today, with David Datro Fofana also a target for Championship sides.
Football Insider exclusively revealed on 1 September that Preston and Charlton want to sign Fofana on loan and have made enquiries to the Blues.
Fofana, 22, is not part of Maresca‘s long-term plans at Stamford Bridge and has been widely expected to leave the club this summer.
The two Championship outfits have moved to get ahead of rivals in their pursuit of his signature, having made contact with Chelsea about a deal.
