Peterborough United are in talks to sign Ipswich Town defender Elkan Baggott, sources have told Football Insider.

The League One outfit are working on a deal to bring in the 22-year-old before the transfer window closes.

Sources say that it would be a loan move, with the two sides negotiating behind the scenes.

Baggott recently signed a new three-year contract with the Tractor Boys, which will see him remain at the Championship club until 2028.

Earlier today, Football Insider exclusively revealed that Peterborough have agreed a deal to sign Wrexham centre-back Tom O’Connor.

O’Connor is expected to join Darren Ferguson’s side permanently, bringing experience and reliability with him.

Posh currently sit bottom of the pile in League One, and have already conceded 11 goals this term, so are looking for defensive reinforcements to shore up their backline.

Baggott has previous experience in the third tier as a result of a number of loan spells, starting 15 league games for Blackpool last season, and 12 for Bristol Rovers the campaign before.

Meanwhile, Peterborough United are in talks to sign Chelsea striker Jimmy-Jay Morgan on loan, sources have told Football Insider.

The 19-year-old could be allowed to leave Stamford Bridge on loan before the 7pm transfer deadline as he continues to gain first-team experience.

Morgan spent the second half of last season on loan at League Two outfit Gillingham where he scored two goals in 16 appearances after joining in January.

The Blues are keen for him to continue his development in the EFL by taking a step up to League One as he is highly unlikely to feature under Enzo Maresca.
