Although there are still two more Premier League games to go, the Liverpool squad have started their summer break early.
Already last week, Arne Slot’s men were afforded time off and only returned for pre-Arsenal training last week Friday – with plenty of the players posting vacation pictures on their social media enjoying well-earned time off.
Cody Gakpo was spotted with Inter Milan’s Denzel Dumfries in Italy while Harvey Elliott shared some snaps on a yacht.
With plenty of the senior squad involved in World Cup qualifiers and Nations League action in early June, this time off is a smart move from the club with next season already in mind.
Arne Slot is not with the squad in Dubai, having instead been spotted at Ocean Beach Ibiza soaking up the sun and celebrating the title capture.
The Dutchman was seen in the VIP section of the DJ’s Booth as the venue gave him a special Champions welcome.
Meanwhile, the Liverpool players themselves instead chose to go to Dubai, with videos on social media doing the rounds of Virgil van Dijk and co?
enjoying time off on a yacht.
While the trip was in part to further celebrate the 20th league title triumph, DAVEOCKOP can exclusively reveal that the main reason for the squad going to Dubai was to give Trent Alexander-Arnold an official send-off ahead of his move to Real Madrid.
This mirrors Jordan Henderson’s planned farewell event for Steven Gerrard in 2015 ahead of his move to LA Galaxy, with the squad at the time also making the trip to Dubai off the back of a horrendous defeat to Stoke in May of that year.
However, this time the trip was organised collectively as a group with Trent Alexander-Arnold a well-liked member of the squad.
The players will be in Dubai for the entire week to celebrate the Liverpool career of Alexander-Arnold and to give him a warm send-off.
Arne Slot’s men will then return on Friday to prepare for an away trip to Brighton on Monday night for the penultimate match of the Premier League season.
It remains to be seen what kind of send-off Trent Alexander-Arnold will receive from the Anfield faithful for the final game of the season against Crystal Palace on 25 May.
The 26-year-old looked crestfallen when sections of the stadium booed him against Arsenal, but thankfully the squad will give a jovial send-off irrespective of what happens on the final home game of the season.
