Chelsea will not rule out letting Enzo Fernandez leave the club if a significant offer arrives amid growing interest from European giants.

That is according to former Man United and Blackburn chief scout Mick Brown, who remains very well-connected within the game, as he exclusively told Football Insider that Real Madrid are among clubs keeping an eye on the 24-year-old.

Real Madrid have been long-term admirers of Fernendez and had considered exploring a move during the summer transfer window before looking elsewhere.

Having spent £106million to bring the midfielder to Stamford Bridge in 2023, it is expected to take a similarly “massive” fee for him to leave.

However, the Blues’ hierarchy are open to offers for any of their big-name players, with this coming after new that Chelsea will face FA charges for historic breaches of financial rules.

Brown told Football Insider in March that Chelsea could be tempted by “big” offers for Fernandez should they arrive from the likes of Real Madrid.

The former scout, who has a wealth of experience in top-level player recruitment after over a decade at Man United during their most successful period, insisted that the Blues remain open to offers although his sale is not guaranteed.

“I’m never surprised by the decisions the Chelsea board make,” he told Football Insider.

“There are so many players in that squad and new players being brought in, they’re going to be prepared to let players go if the right offers come in.

“The belief is that if a player leaves, no matter how important they may be, there will already be a player in the squad who can come in and replace them.

“There’s been a lot of talk about Fernandez for a while now, and I think it would take a big fee for them to let him go, but if they get a massive offer from a Real Madrid or somebody like that, they’ll be open to discussions about a deal.

“I don’t expect the manager would be too happy with it, in all honesty, because he’s an important player for him but that’s how Chelsea are choosing to operate with all the money they’ve spent.”

Enzo Maresca is not keen to lose any of the key players from his starting XI, despite the abundance of rotation option purchased for him by the board.

Alongside Cole Palmer, Fernandez is considered a crucial part of Maresca’s plans for the future while he has thrived since stepping into a more advanced role.

Fernandez was praised for his display as Chelsea beat Fulham before the international break, while he has already picked up two goals and one assist in four league games.

Troy Deeney backed Fernandez to enjoy his best season for Chelsea in terms of goalscoring following his goal during the 5-1 win against West Ham.

The midfielder is proving to be a threat across the park for the Blues, but that is only likely to further the interest of the likes of Real Madrid who are watching closely.
