Crystal Palace have joined the race to sign Nice forward Evann Guessand in the final month of the summer transfer window.
That is according to former Man United and Blackburn chief scout Mick Brown, who remains very well-connected within the game, as he exclusively told Football Insider that Oliver Glasner is determined to strengthen his squad before the window closes.
The 24-year-old Ivory Coast international has emerged as an option for the Eagles to provide competition to both Eberechi Eze and Ismaila Sarr in the coming season.
Palace are set to compete in Europe this season, and are planning to push ahead with their bid to add quality strength in depth across the squad.
However, Football Insider revealed that Tottenham are also interested in Guessand and have joined the likes of Brighton and West Ham in the race for his signature.
Meanwhile, Football Insider exclusively revealed on 6 July that Guessand has turned down Jose Mourinho’s Fenerbahce in a huge boost to interested Premier League clubs.

This article contains exclusive comment from Mick Brown, a football transfer expert and former chief scout for Man United and Sunderland among others.
Brown told Football Insider on on 31 July that Palace are planning to back Glasner with a late-window signing spree after his public plea for additions.
The former scout, who has a wealth of experience in top-level player recruitment after over a decade at Man United during their most successful period, explained he expects Palace to be busy in the final month of the transfer window.
“I expect Palace will be busy in the next few weeks,” he told Football Insider.
“I’ve got a lot of belief in what Palace do behind the scenes, the way they run their affairs, manage their assets and the work they do to bring players in.
“I know they’re a club who do their due diligence very well and spend their money smartly.
“You can look at the likes of Eze and Wharton, young players who they brought in and have developed.
“I must confess I’ve never seen Guessand play, but from what I’m told, Palace have been looking at him and they like what he could offer to the team.
“They’ll know about his strengths and weaknesses and whether he would be a good fit.
“Once they’ve done their background work, whether they do a deal will depend on what his asking price is and if they think he’s worth it.
“But the interest is definitely there, and they need to start adding to the squad.
“Playing in Europe is going to be tricky unless they’ve got a solid squad of players to utilise.
“That’s going to be their focus now, bringing in players to strengthen their options, because otherwise it can be a very tough season playing twice a week.”

While recruiting new players is set to become the Eagles’ focus over the coming weeks, they remain determined to keep hold of their star players.
Football Insider revealed on 30 July that Arsenal could miss out on signing Eberechi Eze as Palace are standing firm on their asking price for the attacking midfielder.
Eze, 27, has a £68million release clause in his contract which is set to expire before the Premier League season begins and Palace’s stance is that they will not sell for less.
This comes after Brown told Football Insider that Crystal Palace are confident of keeping Eze and will not sell unless his release clause is activated.
