Fulham are closing in on an agreement with Arsenal to re-sign Reiss Nelson in the final month of the summer transfer window.
That is according to former Man United and Blackburn chief scout Mick Brown, who remains very well-connected within the game, as he exclusively told Football Insider that Marco Silva’s side have explored both permanent and loan moves for the winger.
Arsenal are keen to sell the 25-year-old to raise funds this summer, but another loan move including an option or obligation to buy is more likely as things stand.
Nelson spent last season on loan at Craven Cottage, but his spell was derailed by a hamstring injury suffered in December,
Fulham have considered moves for a number of wingers this summer after Brown told Football Insider Fulham want to sign Chelsea’s Raheem Sterling.
However, Nelson remains their top target following his loan spell while the Arsenal academy graduate is believed to be open to a return to West London.

This article contains exclusive comment from Mick Brown, a football transfer expert and former chief scout for Man United and Sunderland among others.
Football Insider revealed in June 2024 that Arsenal were planning to sell Nelson permanently before he agreed to join Fulham on loan for the season.
Now, Brown, who has a wealth of experience in top-level player recruitment after over a decade at Man United during their most successful period, has insisted the same could be the case this summer as the clubs are edging closer to an agreement.
“Fulham are looking to re-sign Reiss Nelson this summer,” he told Football Insider.
“I don’t think he showed enough while he was there on loan to convince them to spend a fee on bringing him in permanently, though.
“They’ve been speaking to Arsenal about the deal, because they want to sell him permanently.
“From their point of view, they can sell him for a profit and then use that money elsewhere.
“But I think Fulham want to get him back on loan and then after another season they can make an assessment of whether it’s worth signing him permanently.
“I suspect they’ll meet in the middle, he’ll spend the year on loan with an option to buy.
“It’s difficult for teams like Fulham sometimes in the market, because they don’t have the money or the status to bring in real top-line players to take them up a level.
“They have to be clever and a lot of their focus is on signing players from the likes of Arsenal.
“Players that may not be good enough for the elite teams, but they’re solid Premier League players.
“That’s how I see Nelson, so it doesn’t surprise me that they’re looking to bring him in, whether it ends up being just a loan or a permanent deal.”

Alongside their ambitions of signing Nelson or a new winger this summer, Fulham have also considered a move to sign Leicester City’s Wilfred Ndidi.
Football Insider revealed on 13 July that Man United and Everton want to sign Ndidi but face competition from Fulham, Crystal Palace and Juventus.
A host of clubs have been put on alert by his £9million release clause and are prepared to make a move as he is now expected to leave Leicester.
This comes after Brown told Football Insider on 3 July that Everton will reignite their interest in Ndidi after missing out on a deal last summer.
