Jose Mourinho is open to returning to the Premier League should the opportunity arise amid links with the potential vacancy at Nottingham Forest.
That is according to former Man United and Sunderland chief scout Mick Brown, who remains very well-connected within the game, as he exclusively told Football Insider that the 62-year-old “always” has one eye on a dramatic return to English football.
This comes as speculation continues to build surrounding the future of Nuno Espirito Santo at the City Ground following a bust-up with senior figures.
Brown told Football Insider on 26 August that Forest are considering sacking Nuno as his relationship with controversial owner Evangelos Marinakis has turned sour.
Mourinho, meanwhile, has been linked with a number of potential positions in the last year including at Rangers, Leeds, Newcastle and West Ham.
This comes after Brown told Football Insider in November that Mourinho is advertising his availability as he is open to leaving his role at Fenerbahce.

Brown told Football Insider in November that Mourinho was interested in the West Ham job as he remains keen on a return to English football.
The former scout, who has a wealth of experience working closely with elite-level managers including the likes of Sir Alex Ferguson and Ron Atkinson, insisted that the former Chelsea boss would now be interested in taking over at the City Ground.
“I read that Forest might look at Jose Mourinho,” he told Football Insider.
“I think he would be open to taking that job, because he’s always got one eye on a return to the Premier League, it’s something he’s been interested in for a while.
“He rarely spends more than two or three years at any club, so he might be looking to leave Turkey already if the opportunity comes up.

“Everybody knows what he’s like, he likes to be the centre of attention.
“That might be a good fit for Forest with all the talk around them at the moment.
“Replacing Nuno would be a controversial move, so who better to deal with that controversy?
“I certainly think it’s something he would be interested in should he be offered the chance.”
Mourinho is not the only manager on Forest’s radar should they decide to part ways with Nuno, as they assess a number of options for the position.
Football Insider exclusively revealed on 27 August that Fulham boss Marco Silva is on Forest’s list, with Marinakis said to be a big admirer of the 48-year-old.

Marinakis wants a proven Premier League manager who would be able to make an instant impact with a squad that he is convinced is well equipped to challenge for a European place.
Meanwhile, Silva has been tipped to quit Fulham as a result of their lack of backing in the transfer window despite a strong season last time out.
