Liverpool are planning to accept a new offer for defender Kostas Tsimikas in the closing stages of the summer transfer window.

That is according to former Man United and Blackburn chief scout Mick Brown, who remains very well-connected within the game, as he exclusively told Football Insider that the 29-year-old has no place in Arne Slot’s plans for the future.

Slot made a clear statement about the left-back’s position in his team after he was left out of the squad during the Community Shield defeat to Crystal Palace.

The arrival of Milos Kerkez, who started at Wembley, has forced his new teammate down the pecking order and plans are now being put in place to move him on.

This comes after Brown told Football Insider in June that Nottingham Forest are interested in Tsimikas and have been given the green light to make a move.

Meanwhile, Brown told Football Insider in May that Leeds are also interested in signing Tsimikas and will rival Forest for his signature.

This article contains exclusive comment from Mick Brown, a football transfer expert and former chief scout for Man United and Sunderland among others.

Football Insider revealed on 26 May that Tsimikas could be available for £15million as Leeds believe he would immediately improve their starting XI.

Brown, who has a wealth of experience in top-level player recruitment after over a decade at Man United during their most successful period, insisted that the left-back will have no shortage of offers both in the Premier League and abroad.

“Liverpool are looking to let go of Tsimikas,” he told Football Insider.

“The lad has done a good job over a number of years at Liverpool, he’s always been a reliable backup for Robertson and he’s done well whenever he’s come in.

“He’s been seen as an important squad member on that basis, but that’s not the case any more.

“Now they’ve got Kerkez, Tsimikas’ value to the squad has dropped, and that was made clear when he was left out for the Community Shield.

“Robertson still has a job to do there and he can rotate with Kerkez when needed.

“But for Liverpool, they don’t need more than two left-backs, and they see Tsimikas as a sellable asset at this stage of the window.

“As far as I know, there are a few clubs interested in him, so I would expect him to move on.”

Tsimikas is not the only player who could be on his way out of Anfield this summer, as Ben Doak has also been heavily linked with a move away.

Football Insider revealed on 12 August that Liverpool will accept £20million offers for Doak, with both Leeds and West Ham keeping an eye on his situation.

The Scotland international is well down the pecking order under Slot, and would need a move away to guarantee first-team football in the Premier League.

Meanwhile, Brown told Football Insider that Crystal Palace are among the clubs interested in Doak having missed out on his signature in the January transfer window.
