Savinho is keen to join Tottenham this summer as they remain in talks over a deal with Man City, according to their former scout.

Mick Brown, who also worked as the chief scout at Man United and Blackburn and remains very well-connected at his former clubs, exclusively told Football Insider that the Thomas Frank is prepared to offer the 21-year-old regular first-team football.

The Brazil international is believed to have grown frustrated by his inconsistent role in Pep Guardiola’s team and has invited the opportunity to discuss a move.

Football Insider revealed on 11 August that Tottenham’s talks to sign Savinho are advancing with optimism that an agreement will soon be reached.

Savinho could leave Man City in favour of joining Tottenham.

This comes after Brown told Football Insider on 4 August that Tottenham are accelerating their transfer plans in a bid to replace James Maddison after his “awful” injury.

Brown told Football Insider that City are planning to accelerate first-team sales after Guardiola demanded his squad be trimmed over the summer.

The former scout, who has a wealth of experience in top-level player recruitment after over a decade at Man United during their most successful period, insisted Savinho’s desire to leave is an issue that comes with the territory for Man City.

“Savinho wants to make that move to Tottenham,” he told Football Insider.

“He’s in and out of the team at City, but if he goes to Spurs, Thomas Frank will offer him more regular football and an improved standing in the squad.

“That’s what he wants to do, play more regular football than he’s currently getting.

“It’s something Man City have to live with and they’ve always managed to do well.

“They want to compete in all of the cup competitions and in Europe, so they have to have a squad of quality players so they can rotate.

“There are players there who could start for any team in the league, but they don’t at Man City.

“Most of the time, they’re happy to do that because they’re winning trophies and getting paid a fair bit alongside that.

“But in this instance, Savinho has been frustrated with not playing as regularly as he would like, and wants to go and make his mark somewhere else.”

Spurs’ pursuit of Savinho is not expected to be their only incoming deal at this late stage of the transfer window, with Harvey Elliott also on their radar.

Football Insider revealed on 9 August that Tottenham could sign Elliott for £40million this summer as Liverpool have set their asking price on the midfielder.

However, Bundesliga outfit RB Leipzig are currently the front-runners to land the England Under-21 star and have been in talks with Liverpool.

Brown told Football Insider in July that Tottenham have joined the race to sign Elliott, but his preferred destination has not yet become clear.
