Harry Kane has been widely linked with a return to Tottenham in the near future and dominoes are beginning to fall into place to make it happen.

Vivienne Lewis’ increased role in the day-to-day running of the club has been tipped as a step towards landing the 32-year-old, while plans are being put in place behind the scenes.

Football Insider revealed in August that Tottenham are plotting a move to bring Kane back to North London, with plans to accelerate in January and next summer.

Kane has a release clause in his contract which will become active in 2026, with an initial value of £56.7million and Spurs have positioned themselves to take full advantage.

Meanwhile, Daniel Levy confirmed following Kane’s move to Bayern Munich in 2023 that Spurs will have first refusal to re-sign the England captain should he leave the Bundesliga giants.

Former Spurs scout Mick Brown told Football Insider in March that Kane wants to return to the Premier League amid reported interest from Liverpool and Man United.

Now, the former scout who has a wealth of experience in top-level player recruitment after over a decade at Man United during their most successful period, has insisted Spurs are set to be among the front-runners to agree a deal.

“If Kane becomes available, Tottenham are going to be right there for him,” he told Football Insider.

“They’ll feel they can compete with the other clubs who are in for him, obviously because of his time there and the fact he knows the area and the staff.

“As far as the fee goes, I believe he has a release clause in his contract which won’t put him too far out of their reach, that will just depend on the wages he wants.

“When you look in the Premier League, Man United have signed a new striker, Liverpool have signed two new strikers, Man City have Haaland, he’s not going to Arsenal.

“So Tottenham are left as the only clear option for him if he wants to come back to the Premier League and if Bayern are going to let him go.

“Because of who he is and what he can do, there will always be interest from top clubs in Kane, but I think Spurs would have a good chance of bringing him back.”

Should Bayern allow Kane to leave the club in 2026, Spurs have received a number of significant boosts to their chances of bringing him back to North London.

Following Levy’s departure, Lewis is now playing a more active role at Tottenham, which is expected to provide another boost in their ambitions of signing Kane.

Reports [the Telegraph] claim that she is a close friend of the Kane family, so much so that she was in attendance via Zoom for the gender reveal party of their third child in 2020.

This close relationship is expected to play a key role in convincing the England captain to return to Spurs rather than making a proposed move elsewhere should he leave Bayern.

Man United are also eyeing a move for Kane, while Barcelona have been linked as well, but Spurs remain hopeful they can swoop in ahead of their rivals.

The England star remains a crucial player for Bayern Munich in their ambitions of challenging for the Champions League, but his future is uncertain ahead of next summer.
