Celtic have been told they must back Brendan Rodgers with a number of deals late in the transfer window amid suggestions he could quit.
That is according to former Man United and Blackburn chief scout Mick Brown, who remains very well-connected within the game, as he exclusively told Football Insider that the 52-year-old expects to be backed before the 1 September transfer deadline.
This comes amid links with the potential managerial opening at Nottingham Forest amid speculation about Nuno Espirito Santo’s future at the City Ground.
Football Insider revealed on 27 August that Rodgers is high on the shortlist at Forest and would be firmly in contention for the role should it become available.
Celtic, meanwhile, have been dealt a significant blow to their budget late in the window following their failure to qualify for the Champions League league stage.
However, Football Insider revealed in April that Rodgers will demand the Celtic board back him and could grow unhappy at Parkhead if they do not agree.

Brown told Football Insider on 25 August that Rodgers could walk away from Celtic amid growing frustrations with this summer’s transfer activity at Parkhead.
The former scout, who has a wealth of experience working closely with elite-level managers including the likes of Sir Alex Ferguson and Ron Atkinson, insisted that the boss will need to be backed if they want to keep him for the foreseeable future.
“Brendan Rodgers expects to be backed in the market,” he told Football Insider.
“He’s been clear about his desire to improve his squad and further the club’s ambitions.
“If he’s not getting support from the board to improve the team and build upon their recent success, then it wouldn’t surprise me if he walked away.
“Celtic could have no issues about that either, it would be entirely of their own making.

“If the directors aren’t backing him, then what’s the point of him being there?
“They need to go into the transfer market and show how much they value him as their manager.
“It’s probably easier said than done, maybe they can’t back him as much as they would like to, but they have to show some sort of effort for him.
“If he’s unhappy, that gets on to the players, and before you know were you are it’s a very difficult situation for the club.”
Following their 0-0 aggregate draw and subsequent penalty shoot-out defeat against Kairat on 26 August, the Hoops have been dealt a significant financial blow.
Football Insider revealed on 27 August that Celtic have missed out on more than £11million after failing to qualify for the Champions League proper.
The second-tier competition is significantly less lucrative than the Champions League following Uefa’s changes to its structure over the past year.
Celtic landed around £38.2million in prize money from the Champions League last season, where they were beaten by Bayern Munich in the knock-out round play-off.
