Alexander Isak finally completed his sensational move from Newcastle United to Liverpool on deadline day.
In a deal worth £125 million, Isak’s move rocketed him to the top of the most expensive deadline day deals ever, as well as setting a new British transfer fee record.
It is the second time Liverpool have broken the British transfer record, having topped the charts with their £106m acquisition of Florian Wirtz earlier this summer.
Isak’s move has rumbled on this summer and been part of a torrid transfer window for Newcastle who have seen multiple targets slip away.

After issuing a cold 37 word farewell to the Swede, Newcastle received a response from Isak, who was more heartfelt in his goodbye message.
Taking to X (formerly Twitter) ex-Newcastle player Don Hutchison blasted Isak for the nature of his departure from the club.
“Too late, should have said this a month ago…” Hutchison’s post read, followed by a yawning emoji and the hashtags, ‘RubbishAgent’ and ‘BadlyAdvised’.

Amongst the less hostile responses to Isak’s exit was Anthony Gordon, who issued an emotional statement to the now-Liverpool striker.
Football Insider verdict
Liverpool’s squad depth in attacking areas is immense after adding Isak to their ranks, but that comes as a double edged sword to Arne Slot.
A switch to a back three is also off the cards due to Liverpool’s shortage of centre-backs because of Marc Guehi’s deal to the Reds falling through.
