Alexander Isak’s transfer saga still looms over Newcastle United with time quickly running with the transfer deadline is now less that two weeks away.
Isak stepped up his search for a move away from Newcastle with an incredibly damning statement as the striker took to his Instagram, discussing the move publicly for the first time this summer.
Eddie Howe’s side have endured a tough summer transfer window and the constant noise surrounding a move away for their star striker has added to their misery.
Howe has been backed to succeed despite a difficult summer as he looks to build on last season which saw Newcastle lift their first piece of silverware in 70 years when the club beat Liverpool 2-0 in the Carabao Cup final in February.
Newcastle are exploring a move for Brentford’s Yoane Wissa who many see as a successor to Isak should the Swedish international depart the club this summer, but the forward’s future remains to be seen, leading to one bold prediction from an ex-Premier League forward.

After Isak’s Instagram statement it seems difficult to see any future which plays out with the 25-year-old pulling on a Newcastle shirt again.
However, former Premier League striker Gabriel Agbonlahor made a controversial call on talkSPORT earlier today (21 August): “I think he stays and I think he’s back scoring goals for Newcastle next season and maybe even, we’ve seen it before, signing a new contract.”

While it’s difficult to envision, Newcastle’s approach has been staunch when dealing with Isak so far this window, and with three years left on his current contract at St.

Whether Agbonlahor is correct or not remains to be seen, but the possibility of Isak not getting his move out of Newcastle grows with every day that passes as the transfer deadline nears.
Should Isak not get his move away it would serve the best interests of neither the forward or his club to hold out on playing in a season that is so crucial for both parties.
Meanwhile, Howe will need all his squad options fit and firing for as much of the season as possible as they hunt for more silverware playing in the Premier League, FA Cup, Carabao Cup and Champions League this season.

Isak was a true fan favourite heading into this summer but his actions will have led to a drastic change of opinion on Tyneside, and should he remain at the club beyond the 31st August transfer deadline that relationship will take time to heal.
