Ezri Konsa has been issued a warning following his post-match comments from Aston Villa’s frustrating draw with Everton.
Jack Grealish had the chance to be Everton’s hero while facing his former club, but not even August’s Premier League Player of the Month could break the deadlock on Saturday, 13 September.
Instead, Emi Martinez was the standout star for Aston Villa, making crucial saves, interceptions, and claims as Unai Emery‘s side secured just their second point of the 2025-26 campaign.
It was clear that the Villans were frustrated not to pick up their first win of the season, with their form seeing them sitting 19th in the Premier League table, and Konsa did not help in his post-match interview.

Everton‘s Beto had multiple chances to win the game, ultimately missing the target far too often, but when asked about the trouble of marking him, Konsa was quick to shrug it off.
In a post-match interview, he said, “I thought he was alright.
He was a handful at times, but for me, he was alright,” which sparked laughter from the Monday Night Club pundits (15 September).
Mark Chapman responded: “At least he’s honest,” to which Chris Sutton said, “I don’t know what to say.
He’s not a big fan, but you’ve gotta be careful with stuff like that.”

He’ll be sharpening his elbows…”
Chapman then asked if Sutton ever called out an opponent before having to play them again, to which Sutton said: “I was stupid, but I was never that stupid”.
Before their next Premier League fixture, the Villans will be facing Brentford in the Carabao Cup, but not even the Bees will be rolling over despite losing several key stars and Thomas Frank.
Keith Andrews‘ side have four points from four games so far, and after Fabio Carvalho’s last-gasp equaliser against Chelsea, they will be hoping to kick on for more.
After Brentford, it is a trip to the Stadium of Light to face newly promoted Sunderland, who are currently sitting seventh in the Premier League table after beating West Ham and the Bees.
There are no easy fixtures ahead for Emery’s side to definitely get back to winning ways, which is a huge worry for those at Villa Park, but there is more than enough talent in the squad to turn things around.
