The FA have confirmed the seven officials who will oversee Liverpool’s Community Shield game against Crystal Palace next month.

Liverpool will face Crystal Palace in this year’s Community Shield.

Arne Slot’s side play in the annual curtain raiser for the first time since 2022, when they beat Manchester City 3-1 at the King Power Stadium.

The Reds secured their 20th league title in brilliant fashion last season, equaling Manchester United’s total league-title haul by that achievement.

As for opponents Crystal Palace, it is their first-ever appearance in the annual fixture between the league and FA Cup winners from the previous campaign.

They beat Manchester City to secure the title, their first major title in history.

Both sides are set to faceoff at Wembley Stadium on Sunday, August 10.

The Football Association has officially appointed the match officials for this traditional curtain-raiser to the English football season.

Chris Kavanagh, will take charge of the game as the referee.

He brings with him significant Premier League and cup experience, making him a trusted figure for high-profile fixtures.

Kavanagh will be supported on the pitch by assistant referees James Mainwaring and Wade Smith while Tony Harrington  will serve as the fourth official.

The Durham referee will be tasked with overseeing substitutions, technical area conduct, and handling any emergencies involving the on-field officials.

Meanwhile, the FA have announced that Akil Howson as the reserve assistant referee, ready to step in if required.

Meanwhile, video technology will also play a key role in the match, with Paul Tierney  appointed as the Video Assistant Referee (VAR)?

Tierney will be assisted by Nick Hopton ensuring accurate and timely reviews of major decisions such as goals, penalties, red cards, and cases of mistaken identity.

The game is set to take place by 3pm, and it will be screened live in the UK on TNT Sports 1.
