With both Liverpool and Manchester United both up for sale, it is set to be a fascinating set of events as two of the biggest sporting institutions in the world compete for investment.

Many different would-be buyers from all over the world have been named as options already for Liverpool, with FSG entertaining the possibility of a full takeover rather than just new investment for the first time.

While John W Henry and co are keeping their options open, a full takeover appears to be the likely outcome — though that could take months to come to fruition.

Saudi Arabia - Speaking to the BBC, Saudi Arabia's sports minister Prince Abdulaziz bin Turki Al Faisal says its government would 'definitely support' private sector Saudi bids for Liverpool (and Manchester United) "From the private sector, I can't speak on their behalf, but there is a lot of interest and appetite and there's a lot of passion about football," he said.

"What Mukesh Ambani wants, Mukesh Ambani generally gets.

Several others have also ruled themselves out of the running or are unviable options.

CBS Sports' Ben Jacobs tweeted last week that FSG want a full sale, and the 'expectation' is that it will come 'sooner rather than later'.
