Fabio Carvalho will have another chance to establish himself as a Liverpool player under Arne Slot next season.

The 21-year-old has enjoyed a productive loan spell with Hull City since January, scoring nine goals in 20 Championship appearances.

Many thought it was a backwards step for the 21-year-old, who had won the Championship with Fulham prior to signing for the Reds in 2022.

Carvalho initially joined RB Leipzig on loan at the beginning of the 2023/24 season.

There was hope that a loan spell in the Bundesliga would help reignite the 21-year-old’s Anfield career after a disappointing 2022/23 debut season.

However, it did not pan out that way, with the diminutive attacker seeing precious little game-time in Germany.

But a loan move to the Tigers have reinvigorated Carvalho, and he seems now ready for the challenge of proving his worth at Anfield next season.

Alongside Tyler Morton, Hull City were unlucky to not qualify for the Championship play-off’s – with Liam Rosenior’s side finishing 7th on the final matchday last weekend.

What did Fabio Carvalho say about Manchester United and Chelsea?

Speaking to Theo Squires and the Liverpool Echo, the 21-year-old went into detail on his Liverpool transfer.

He revealed that both Manchester United and Cheslea were keen on his signature back before he even signed for Fulham.

When quizzed on that interest, Carvalho said:

“So United came down.

It was around the same time I was getting scouted by Fulham and just having fun playing Sunday League.”

“United came down and offered me a contract but I just didn’t think it was the right thing for me to do, to move away from my family there and then.”

“So then it came down to Chelsea and Fulham.

It all turned out how it turned out and I’m thankful for that.”

“There were a few (other clubs interested) but I didn’t want to divert my attention from where I was at with Fulham and from Liverpool, because I knew that’s where I wanted to go.”

“There were a few other clubs but I didn’t want to entertain it.”

Fabio Carvalho also spoke about how players like Harvey Elliott helped persuade to make the Liverpool move, with the pair having gone to the same primary school:

“I spoke to (Neco) and Harry Wilson.

We spoke a lot about Liverpool.

Honestly, if Liverpool want you, it’s for a reason.’ I didn’t really need much persuasion, but he helped a lot.

He loves the club as well.”

“Everyone knows that we’ve basically grown up together, well for as long as I’ve been in England, from Under-13s all the way up to… we played Under-23s football before he went to Liverpool?
