The defender had undergone a medical in London when news broke that the transfer had collapsed in the final hours of the window.
Palace pulled the plug on the move after failing to secure a replacement for the 25-year-old.
Guehi has now entered the final year of his contract at Selhurst Park, leaving his long-term future uncertain.
England manager Thomas Tuchel praised the centre-back for his professionalism amid the disappointment, saying Guehi had handled the collapse of his Liverpool switch with a “brilliant attitude.”
“Of course we had a chat with him,” Tuchel said in his pre-match news conference.
“He looks absolutely fine and impressive on the field?
He has had a good couple of weeks behind him on the performance side.
“He has continued like that in camp and he handles it [his transfer situation] with respect and with a brilliant attitude.”
“He is the main driver of Crystal Palace’s success – the captain and the leader – and he played very impressively at the end of last season,” Tuchel added.
Several of the continent’s elite clubs have already expressed interest in signing Guehi next summer.
Bayern Munich are among the clubs monitoring Guehi and could make a move for him at the end of the season.
Liverpool remain interested in Marc Guehi, according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano.
However, a move to Anfield is far from guaranteed.
Romano said: “Marc Guehi to Liverpool is not guaranteed because several clubs around Europe are interested in him
“Liverpool will remain in conversations with the player ahead of 2026.”
