Fabrizio Romano has clarified Florian Wirtz’s wage at Liverpool.
It’s been reported that the Anfield club have agreed to £100 million upfront payment with an additional £16.5 million in performance-related add-ons.
Should the add-ons be activated through Liverpool’s success, the deal would surpass Chelsea’s £115 million signing of Moises Caicedo as the most expensive transfer in British football history.
The German international is expected to sign a five-year contract that will keep him at Anfield until 2030
There has been plenty of conflicting reports on how much the 22-year-old will be earning on Merseyside.
Taking to X, Fabrizio Romano first reported that Wirtz is arriving to Liverpool today with a medical to follow imminently:
“From exclusive story on deal agreed 8 days ago to Florian Wirtz’s arrival at Liverpool with medical to follow in 48h…”
…all documents are in place and then Wirtz will be unveiled as new Liverpool club record signing.
The Italian then added that his information is that the 22-year-old will only earn around £200,000 per week at Anfield – contrasting reports from Germany that he going to net £340,000–£355,000:
“More on Florian Wirtz: his salary will be in the region of £200,000 per week plus bonuses.”
“Reports of higher salary are not confirmed as it will fit Liverpool’s current structure.”
