Fabrizio Romano has dropped an intriguing update on Luis Diaz and Liverpool.
The Colombian winger has made it clear that he would like to leave Liverpool this summer, with interested suitors including Bayern Munich and Barcelona.
Bayern have taken the formal steps in trying to sign him, with Liverpool already saying no to a formal €67.5?million (£58.6?million) bid from the Bavarians.
The 28-year-old is entering the final two years of his contract, which runs until summer 2027 — a position that gives Liverpool leverage in the ongoing saga.
Liverpool’s official stance is emphatic: Díaz is currently not for sale unless a significantly higher offer meets their valuation, reportedly over €100?million for accounting purposes.
Arne Slot is keen to retain the Colombian winger for the 2025–26 season, and the club have kept contract extension talks ongoing.
However, Diaz is keen on leaving.
Although statements from the player suggest he is “very happy” at Anfield, Diaz will be willing to move to Bayern.
Liverpool have maintained he is not for sale.
However, the latest update from Fabrizio Romano suggests that the Reds may need to cash in on Diaz to raise funds in their pursuit of Alexander Isak.
“It is important to clarify that Luis Diaz’s situation is not only a technical point but also a financial point,” he said on the latest episode of the Here We Go Podcast on YouTube.
“To raise some money and then reinvest in Alexander Isak.”
He then went on to reveal that Liverpool are ready to bid for Alexander Isak and are willing to ‘go big’ on the striker.
“But Liverpool are ready?
Liverpool want to go big,” he added.
“They believe that if Newcastle opens the doors to this opportunity, they can be ready to really try to sign Alexander Isak.”
