Fabrizio Romano has provided his latest Liverpool news that will only add to the undeniable buzz around the Anfield club.
Left-back Milos Kerkez is set to arrive from Bournemouth for around £40 million, providing competition and succession planning after Andy Robertson.
Meanwhile, Germany international Florian Wirtz has agreed to join from Bayer Leverkusen in a deal worth up to £116.5 million, a statement of intent as Liverpool seeks a creative fulcrum in midfield to replace Trent Alexander-Arnold’s influence.
On the other side of the ledger, Federico Chiesa’s limited opportunities under Arne Slot have prompted speculation over his future, and the Italian winger is expected to seek regular football elsewhere.
Serie A is touted as his most likely destination to get regular playing time ahead of the FIFA World Cup next summer.
Darwin Nunez is also the subject of growing interest from across Europe, with several top clubs monitoring the Uruguayan’s next move as Liverpool assess their options up front.
And according to Fabrizio Romano, one of the concrete options upfront is Eintracht Frankfurt’s Hugo Ekitike:
“Don’t forget how Liverpool are involved in the story for Hugo Ekitike,” the Italian transfer guru said on his YouTube channel.
“Because Liverpool are waiting to find a solution for Darwin Nunez.”
“Darwin is expected to leave Liverpool.
Darwin was a top target in Saudi in January, and Darwin remains a target for this summer transfer window for Saudi clubs.”
“And so, let’s also follow the Darwin Nunez situation, because, with Darwin leaving, Ekitike is a concrete target for Liverpool.”
This follows reports from Sky Germany that the Liverpool hierarchy had already made contact with the Frenchman’s representatives.
The 22-year-old has revitalized his career since arriving at Frankfurt from Paris Saint-Germain, first joining on loan in January 2024 before sealing a permanent transfer for €16.5 million.
During the 2024-25 season, he delivered an outstanding performance, tallying 22 goals and 12 assists in 48 matches across all competitions.
In Bundesliga action, Ekitike found the net 15 times in 33 appearances, forging a dynamic attacking duo with Omar Marmoush until the Egyptian’s move to Manchester City in January.
Frankfurt is expected to demand for Ekitike’s services.
