Liverpool will kick off their new Premier League campaign on Friday evening when they host Bournemouth at Anfield.

The coming days promise to be busy – not only in preparing for that season opener, but also in pushing forward with any remaining transfer business as the summer window reaches its decisive stages.

Arne Slot and his coaching staff face the added challenge of defending the club’s Premier League crown in the 2025/26 season.

To aid that mission, the head coach has welcomed seven new arrivals, including Giorgi Mamardashvili, Jeremie Frimpong, Hugo Ekitike, Milos Kerkez, Florian Wirtz, Armin Pecsi, and Freddie Woodman.

The spending so far has amounted to almost £300million, yet there remains the possibility of further additions –  potentially even this week.

At the top of Liverpool’s transfer agenda in recent weeks has been Newcastle United striker Alexander Isak.

The Sweden international has expressed his desire to leave Tyneside and is currently training away from the first team.

Anfield chiefs have already acted on their interest with a £110million bid, but Newcastle rejected the offer.

Any deal would require a significant push to be completed in the coming days, though the possibility is still alive.

Another target under consideration is Crystal Palace centre-back Marc Guehi.

The Reds have also been linked with several younger defensive prospects, including Giovanni Leoni, Club Brugge’s Joel Ordonez, and Wolfsburg’s Konstantinos Koulierakis.

Leoni’s rise in Italian football has been rapid, with Parma valuing the 17-year-old defender at around €40million.

He has racked up 17 Serie A appearances since making his debut for Parma.

The Serie A side have already rejected Bournemouth’s €35million offer and are holding firm on their valuation.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Liverpool are considering a move for Leoni this summer.
