The 25-year-old accused the Magpies of ‘broken promises’ on social media, expressing a desire to leave, while Newcastle responded, leaving the door open for his return?
Meanwhile, Harvey Elliott and Kostas Tsimikas face potential exits, and Ibrahima Konate’s future is uncertain as he enters the final year of his contract.
Tsimikas has long served as Liverpool’s backup left-back behind Andy Robertson, but with the arrival of Milos Kerkez this summer, the Greek international has slipped to third choice at Anfield.
Now 29, Tsimikas appears to be nearing the end of his time on Merseyside, though his next destination is not yet confirmed.
He joined Liverpool from Olympiacos in 2020
Since then, he has made 115 appearances for the Reds and collected a Premier League title, an FA Cup, and two Carabao Cups.
Tsimikas is under contract with Liverpool until 2027 but is attracting interest from multiple clubs, including Serie A giants Roma, who are in talks with Liverpool over a potential deal.
Earlier this summer, Nottingham Forest were interested in signing Tsimikas.
Tsimikas featured regularly in pre-season, sometimes as an auxiliary centre-back, but has been omitted from the matchday squad in both of Liverpool’s first two games this season.
Providing the latest update on Roma’s pursuit of the defender, transfer expert Fabrizio Romano posted on X: “AS Roma have approached Liverpool today for Kostas Tsimikas to join on initial loan deal.
“Tsimikas wants the move but no green light to the formula yet as #LFC insist on permanent exit.
“There are two more clubs in the race for the Greek LB.”
