Stefan Bajcetic has been heavily linked with a return to La Liga, with Girona emerging as the frontrunners for his signature.
However, Paul Joyce reported on Wednesday afternoon that the club is planning for Bajcetic to remain behind and build-on his previous loan spell with Las Palmas.
The situation surrounding James McConnell has already been resolved, with the 20-year-old midfielder o joining Ajax on a season-long loan after signing a new five-year contract with Liverpool.
The deal, worth €1.5m (£1.2m) to Liverpool, represents a coup for the Dutch giants, who beat competition from several Championship clubs and Austrian outfit Sturm Graz to secure his services.
Kostas Tsimikas looks set to leave Liverpool this summer after slipping to third-choice left-back at Anfield.
The 29-year-old has been notably absent from manager Arne Slot’s 21-man squad for the Community Shield clash against Crystal Palace, with newcomer Milos Kerkez and vice-captain Andy Robertson preferred ahead of him.
His omission was repeated in Liverpool’s Premier League opener against Bournemouth, where Kerkez started and Robertson was on the bench, leaving Tsimikas out of the matchday squad once again.
Slot’s clear preference for the 21-year-old Hungarian Kerkez alongside Robertson has effectively pushed Tsimikas down the pecking order, rendering him surplus to requirements this season.
It was previously reported that Liverpool only wanted a permanent sale, and that his move to AS Roma was being held up due the Serie A side not wanting to meet the Reds’ valuation.
But now, according to Fabrizio Romano, that situation has changed:
“Liverpool have informed AS Roma tonight about Kostas Tsimikas now available on straight loan,” Romano wrote on X.
He added that Tsimikas is also pushing to leave:
“Roma are considering whether to proceed and get deal done as they wanted a buy option clause
Tsimikas, pushing a lot as he wants Roma.”
Roma’s approach was to bide their time and wait until the closing days of the transfer window, hoping Liverpool’s position on Kostas Tsimikas softens as the deadline looms.
And it seems that’s what has happened for the Serie A side, but as Romano states, they need to consider if they want to go forth with deal without the buy option.
