Fabrizio Romano has confirmed who Liverpool are going for as a Dean Huijsen alternative.

If this week is anything to go by, then it’s set to be a very summer coming up for the Anfield club.

With the Premier League title having been wrapped up for weeks, and the parade details now confirmed, the Reds hierarchy are wasting no time in shaping the squad for the next campaign.

Liverpool’s most significant move so far has been their advanced negotiations for Bayer Leverkusen’s Jeremie Frimpong.

The Dutch right-back has emerged as the club’s top target to replace Trent Alexander-Arnold, who is set to depart at the end of June.

Talks between Liverpool and Leverkusen are now at an advanced stage, as we exclusively revealed on Wednesday evening, with both sides expecting a swift resolution once the Bundesliga season concludes.

While Liverpool are close to securing Frimpong, they look set to miss out on another highly-rated defensive target.

Dean Huijsen, Bournemouth’s 20-year-old centre-back, had been on the radar of several top clubs, including Liverpool, Chelsea, and Arsenal.

However, Real Madrid have moved decisively, reaching an agreement in principle with Bournemouth to pay Huijsen’s £50 million release clause.

The Spanish giants are now finalizing personal terms, with the expectation that Huijsen will sign a five-year deal and join in time for the Club World Cup.

As a result, the Italian transfer guru has now revealed who the next centre-back option is for Liverpool aside from Huijsen.

Fabrizio Romano, speaking on his YouTube channel, has confirmed that Jorrel Hato is on Liverpool’s shortlist alongside Chelsea’s as well:

“There is one more name to mention in the center-back market and it’s Jorrel Hato of Ajax,” Romano said.

“Left-footed, another huge talent, for sure he’s on the list at Chelsea and Liverpool”

“Both clubs appreciate the player, both clubs have been monitoring the player?

Now we have to see what they decide to do in terms of conversations and negotiations,” the Italian explained.

“Because it’s not an easy one [to negotiate] with Ajax as he is a really important player.”

“Jorrel Hato is one of the candidates for these two clubs now that they are expected to miss out on their target Dean Huijsen.”

While missing out on Huijsen is a blow, the club’s rapid progress in talks for Frimpong signals a clear intent to strengthen key areas before the summer even begins proper.

With more activity expected, Liverpool fans can anticipate a busy and potentially transformative transfer window as the club looks to build on its recent title clinch and address areas of need for the new season.
