Liverpool have failed in a last-ditch move to sign Marc Guehi despite the defender having completed a medical with the club.
The Reds had been keen on bringing Guehi in to provide cover the Ibrahima Konate, Virgil van Dijk and Joe Gomez.
Liverpool even went as far as agreeing a deal with Palace, only for the Eagles to back out at the last moment.
Although the move was not rubberstamped before Monday’s 7pm deadline, Liverpool submitted a deal sheet for Guehi to be given extra time.
But according to various reports on Monday evening, the England international will not be joining Liverpool.
After seeing a dream move to the champions denied, Guehi will no doubt be looking for answers.
In the immediate aftermath of the plug being pulled, journalists have tried to provide them.

It will be fascinating to see what Guehi’s next move is after being denied a transfer at the last moment.
The 25-year-old has been a model professional throughout the transfer speculation, even playing and scoring for Palace on Sunday evening.

However, as David Ornstein reports in The Athletic, Guehi’s professionalism has amounted to nothing.
The reason for the move being denied is reportedly Palace’s failure to secure a replacement for their captain.

The Eagles brought teenager Jaydee Canvot on deadline day, but their move to sign Brighton’s Igor Julio is said to have been keen to the Guehi deal.
With Igor having been missed out on, Palace decided they could not sanction their skipper’s exit.
Manager Oliver Glasner also appears to have been a factor in the decision, with the Austrian said to have been ‘vocally opposed’ to Guehi leaving.
You really have to feel for Guehi.
He did everything right in the build-up to getting his move, but was denied at the last second.
Palace, of course, are right to do as they wish in one way, Guehi is their player after all.
However, they could hardly complain if the former Chelsea man was feeling upset heading back to Selhurst Park this evening.
