Fabrizio Romano has dropped an update on Liverpool this Monday.

Cole Palmer starred for Chelsea as the Blues defeated newly-crowned Premier League champions Liverpool 3-1 at Stamford Bridge on Sunday, in a match that highlighted potential squad depth issues for Arne Slot to address this summer.

With the Premier League title already secured after last weekend’s victory against Tottenham Hotspur, Liverpool manager Arne Slot opted to make six changes to his starting lineup – and the lack of cohesion showed from the outset.

The champions looked out of sorts right from kick-off, with Chelsea capitalizing after just three minutes when Enzo Fernandez tucked home Pedro Neto’s cross to give the Blues an early advantage.

Perhaps the most notable aspect of Slot’s rotation was the complete absence of Ryan Gravenberch from the matchday squad.

The Dutch midfielder, who had started 34 consecutive league games before Sunday’s match, didn’t even travel with the team to London as he was given a complete rest from his duties.

In Gravenberch’s absence, Wataru Endo was handed his first Premier League start of the season in the No.

6 role, joined by Harvey Elliott and Curtis Jones in a completely restructured midfield.

The experimental combination struggled to replicate the control and penetration that Liverpool’s regular starters have provided throughout their title-winning campaign.

Another player who did not exactly grab the opportunity is Jarell Quansah.

The 22-year-old defender endured a nightmare afternoon that began with an unfortunate own goal in the 56th minute.

Virgil van Dijk’s attempted clearance from Cole Palmer’s cross cannoned off Quansah’s midriff into the net, a moment that encapsulated Liverpool’s defensive disarray.

His struggles compounded in stoppage time when a mistimed challenge on Moises Caicedo conceded the penalty that Palmer converted.

There has been plenty of discourse around Quansah this season, having not enjoyed the same success he had in 2023/24 under Jurgen Klopp

Now writing in his GIVEMESPORT Newsletter, Fabrizio Romano has asserted that while Liverpool aren’t actively trying to sell the player, there is still interest:

“It’s a possibility?

It’s not Liverpool trying to sell him but the player attracting interest with Newcastle and German clubs keen.”

Unfortunately for Quansah, he’s been a bit of a magnet for mistakes in 2024/25, and Sunday was yet another error-ridden performance.
