Liverpool have launched what feels like an unprecedented early-summer transfer blitz, securing key targets ahead of schedule to reinforce their Premier League title defense.
The Reds have all but announced Jeremie Frimpong’s £30 million move from Bayer Leverkusen, and submitted a club-record €100 million (£84 million) bid for Florian Wirtz.
Frimpong has completed his medical and will officially join on July 1, providing immediate cover for Trent Alexander-Arnold’s departure to Real Madrid.
The Dutchman recorded 12 assists as a right wing-back for Leverkusen last season.
Meanwhile, Liverpool’s pursuit of Wirtz has escalated rapidly, with Fabrizio Romano confirming a formal €100 million bid submitted on Monday – a package including add-ons that could eventually approach Leverkusen’s €150 million valuation.
The 22-year-old playmaker, who contributed 31 goal involvements (16 goals, 15 assists) last season, has reportedly already agreed to personal terms.
While Wirtz and Frimpong dominate headlines, it’s easy to forget that Liverpool is also still in for Milos Kerkez.
The Hungarian started all 38 games of Bournemouth’s record-breaking Premier League season, showcasing one of the most important traits in the modern game: availability.
Kerkez hinted in an end-of-season Instagram post over the weekend that he “does not know” what’s going to happen in the coming days and weeks.
Now Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that personal terms have been agreed.
Speaking on his YouTube channel, the Italian said:
“My information is that Kerkez already has an agreement on personal terms with Liverpool, just a few small details to clarify,”
“Then, Liverpool are in contact with Bournemouth, they are still working on this one?
In this week, the conversations will continue to get the deal done.”
“So Liverpool, really, really busy on the market, very active.”
“What they are doing in terms of ambition on the market is really, really impressive,” Romano added.
