Fabrizio Romano has now provided more insight into Liverpool’s approach to the Alexander Isak deal and how the club sees it.
Liverpool’s transfer plans have been in full swing this summer, with some major signings already secured.
With Jeremie Frimpong and Florian Wirtz joining the Reds, Liverpool’s attention is now turning to other areas, especially the striker position.
Reports have swirled about a move for Alexander Isak, the Newcastle striker, who has been described as the “dream target” for Liverpool this summer.
However, reports from various sources suggest that there are significant challenges in making this deal happen.
Liverpool’s pursuit of Isak is still a topic of great interest, but there are obstacles that may make the move difficult.
Fabrizio Romano, one of the most reliable voices in football transfers, recently shared his thoughts on Liverpool’s chances of signing Isak.
According to Romano, Liverpool would be willing to move for Isak if the opportunity arose, but he believes this would be a very difficult deal to pull off.
He said GIVEMESPORT’s Market Madness podcast, “Liverpool would try to go for Isak [if he became available], but at the moment I don’t have this feeling.”
“The club, too, from what I’m hearing, see it as a very, very difficult deal.”
Romano also emphasised that while Isak has been a major talking point, there is another striker who may be a more realistic target for Liverpool—Hugo Ekitike of Eintracht Frankfurt.
Romano mentioned that Ekitike is a name Liverpool are keeping on their radar.
“A name I can mention for Liverpool is still Hugo Ekitike at Eintracht Frankfurt.”
“Because if Darwin Nunez leaves, let’s see what happens with Luis Diaz, but especially Darwin, and I see Darwin leaving this summer.”
“Well, I think for Ekitike this could be a possibility to go to Liverpool, because there were calls from Chelsea two weeks ago.”
“Man United, in recent days, also made contact with the agents to understand the situation.”
“But for Liverpool, this is also a possibility.”
“Liverpool also spoke to the agents.”
“Also, Liverpool considered Ekitike an interesting opportunity.
And so that’s the name I would keep in their shortlist,” Romano added.
The Reds have already spoken to Ekitike’s agents, with Chelsea and Manchester United also making contact.
Ekitike’s impressive season at Frankfurt has made him a sought-after target, and Romano believes that a move to Anfield is still very much on the cards.
While Isak remains an exciting prospect, the financial demands and the challenges of prying him away from Newcastle make it unlikely this summer.
For now, Ekitike looks to be a more attainable option for Liverpool’s attacking needs.
